The Effect of NAA - Dip Treatment on Rooting Greenwood Cuttings of Various Ornamental Plant Species in Vinyl Moist Chamber

Abstract
Various ornamental plant species, that are ordinarily able to root from cuttings, are subjected to test in June to assure the following promoting effect of NAA on the rooting greenwood cuttings in vinyl moist chamber.
1. NAA showed more promoting effect on the rooting of many ornamental species examined in vinyl chamber than indolic auxin compounds, and here the dip treatment in liquid was better in rooting than the powder form. On the contrary, indolic auxins and the powder form of NAA were superior in rooting when the outdoor cutting was made.
2. Many plants examined in the test showed that 200ppm NAA of 24-hour dipping resulted in most promoted rooting, and were better than either more or less concentrations of it and less dipping hour of the cuttings.
3. The promoting effect of NAA was particularly striking with the greenwood cutting in June more than hardwood cutting done in March.
4. The NAA effect was marked when cuttings are physiologically active, namely the cutting materials are new and freshy, and either wilted or old ones even taken from the same plant were less influenced or rather inhibited in rooting by NAA.
5. This special promoting influence of NAA on the rooting greenwood cuttings in the moist chamber is discussed herein by and large due to relationship between the rooting and either maintenance or easiness of physiologically active NAA penetration into the plant tissue under the given high temperature and moisture conditions.
